I am a lifelong computer and math nerd and have been working with data and AI/Machine-Learning for over thirty years. I began programming in the late ‘70s, received an MSE in Computer Engineering from the University of Michigan and I’ve applied my expertise to diverse domains ranging from interpreting satellite imagery for government agencies to developing novel disease treatments at a biotech startup to optimizing marketing spend for a global pharmaceutical company.
Working With Me
In a nutshell, I help my clients solve complex business problems by applying the Scientific Method. What this looks like is that we’ll carefully define your most pressing problem in the form of testable hypotheses, then bring together your subject-matter expertise plus any data you might have and my skills in modeling, simulation and facilitation. We’ll iteratively develop a model that most effectively extracts value from your data and then use that model as a virtual laboratory to explore possible solutions and find your best path forward. My approach is results-driven, not technique-driven, and leverages a toolkit that includes but is not limited to machine-learning, predictive analytics, system dynamics, agent-based models, Bayesian statistics, and so on. I am deadly serious about “getting it right,” challenging and rigorously testing hypotheses to create a model that best fits the data. By the way, I’m a strong proponent of transparency and the “teach you to fish” philosophy, so to whatever extent you’d like to learn my approach, I would love to share my knowledge with you.
